Within UKGI, we have undertaken a key advisory role on the most recent high-profile transactions involving government, including the return of NatWest group to the private sector, the acquisition of Royal Mail by IDS, the acquisition of OneWeb and subsequent merger with Eutelsat, the equity raise to fund the construction of Sizewell C nuclear plant and the re-acquisition of the Annington Homes estate. Our advice ranges from responding to major private sector mergers and acquisitions, moving companies into and out of public ownership and helping departments deliver financial transactions with the private sector to supporting companies in distress,.

About You

You will be a well-rounded corporate finance leader who can demonstrate deep expertise in their field. You will typically have operated at Director or Managing Director (or equivalent level) within a corporate finance advisory firm, investment bank or in-house M&A team, working on a range of transactions. Experience gained whilst operating at a senior level in M&A, the Infrastructure sector (including major projects), capital markets or private equity would be desirable.

You should be able to evidence:
• A deep technical knowledge of Corporate Finance, including in the design and structuring of transactions and the valuation of businesses and assets, with the drive to develop in new areas if required by the projects and teams you are assigned to.
• Strong commercial judgement, with the ability to devise and execute strategies to deliver complex corporate finance transactions, including advising on and leading negotiations.
• Sophisticated stakeholder management skills, with an ability to develop strong relationships across government at the most senior levels to support sound decision making.
• The ability to convey complex information clearly and concisely to a senior and time limited audience.
• Experience in providing leadership and strategic direction to teams across a set of workstreams, with a focus on setting a framework which generates high performance.
• Experience of working through high levels of ambiguity and process to get things done and supporting the team(s) you lead to do the same.
• An ability to work both autonomously and collaboratively, with a focus on driving outcomes across the organisation to support UKGI’s wider strategic aims.
• A proactive approach to empowering and developing all members of your team(s), ensuring a high level of performance whilst also supporting their wellbeing.
