About the role
UKGI has grown quickly over the past two years and therefore is seeking a generalist HR assistant to support the HR Manager and Head of HR with varied projects that sit across the function. The organisation is made up of c.160 professionals from both the private and public sector and this role sits within the wider Corporate Services team that works to the Chief Operating Officer, supporting them to achieve the wider People Strategy.
This role will suit a well-rounded HR administrator who is likes being involved in a wide variety of HR work and is looking to grow their experience in the field.
The appointed person will report into the HR Manager.
Key responsibilities are to:
• Support the HR Manager and Head of HR in achieving people objectives for the organisation
• Manage the onboarding process ensuring a smooth handover of offered candidates from the recruitment team and hold responsibility for timely communication to the candidates
• Manage the new starter induction process ensuing all induction activities are undertaken in line with given timetable
• Administer the appraisal and probation process, ensuring timely submission of reports from line managers
• Have excellent candidate/stakeholder experience at the heart of all activities
• Proactively work with the HR Manager to assess and improve current processes and ways of working
• Assist with the administration of monthly payroll activities
• Dealing with day-to-day queries from UKGI colleagues, monitoring the HR Inbox and responding to queries in a timely manner
• Be first point of contact with the HR shared services building a strong working relationship with the team

Required skills and experience
• 3 years HR administration experience with evidence of supporting a range of activities simultaneously
• Excellent communication skills and confident to work with stakeholders of all seniority
• Numerate and confident in working with data and MI
• Proactive approach to workload with excellent attention to detail
• Proven ability to work under pressure, prioritise workloads, meet deadlines and quick to learn new processes.
• Experience of delivering a high standard of customer service or evidence of a service improvement mindset that demonstrates a willingness to make things better for the customer
• Experience of using HR systems and comfortable with technology
